Home Innovation Technologies: RFID
RFID Readers Now Available From Applied Data Systems

Applied Data platforms now allow users to harness the unique and powerful benefits of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to increase business efficiencies, reduce costs, and drive revenue.

These benefits include:

  • No line of sight required to acquire data
  • Ability to differentiate / unique identify items
  • Improved automation / efficiencies vs. manual data collection (e.g. auto location)
  • Ability to write / rewrite data
  • Durability of tags
  • Address WalMart and other RFID compliance mandates
  • Fast time-to-market for multiple form factors

RFID reader technology can be integrated into any ADS product to allow the rapid development and deployment of RFID reader hardware. By using proven and tested readers on compact modules, we can quickly deliver a solution to enable a broad range of RFID reader form factors and applications including:

  • Handheld RFID reader
  • Smart / Intelligent shelf
  • RFID retail kiosk
  • RFID Point of sale system
  • Industrial/medical security monitor
  • Portable / tablet RFID reader

Broad frequency and tag support = multiple addressable markets

ADS RFID Reader Platforms support a broad range of RFID frequencies (ultra high frequency (902-928 MHz), high frequency (13.56 MHz), low frequency (125 / 134.2 kHz)) and tags (EPC, ISO, Tag-It, I-Code, etc.) thereby enabling a broad range of RFID applications including:

  • Supply chain management / warehousing
  • Retail
  • Medical / pharmaceutical
  • Product authentication
  • Asset management and tracking
  • Cashless payments

Hybrid RFID-barcode support = support for existing and growing technologies

Many of Applied Data's RFID Reader Platforms offer simultaneous support of RFID tags and barcodes via integrated RFID reader-laser barcode scanning engines. This hybrid technology approach provides a single solution to preserve existing investments in barcode infrastructure and the rapidly growing RFID market.

RFID becomes even more useful when coupled with ADS features like PoE (Power over Ethernet) and advanced power management which offer options for remote installations.

RFID reader technology can be quickly integrated with any of the basic ADS platforms.

RFID can be leveraged using ADS’ Fast Turn, optimized systems, and will also be popular with our TurboXb modular SBC system.
